Charming Country Pub
Our Story

Back in 2002, Jeremy joined the team as a young potwasher, working alongside his soon to be childhood sweetheart, now wife, Hannah. Jeremy worked his way up through the kitchen, and then out into the restaurant as a member of the front of house. After managing the pub, he became the landlord in 2012.
Since then, he has built around him a team of incredibly talented individuals, some coming through the ranks from an early age - recognised for their fantastic customer service, hardworking attitudes, friendly smiles, and all round knowledge of the hospitality industry.
History
Previously named "The Old House", The Sword Inn Hand was a private dwelling owned by the noble Scottish Bellenden family until 1800, when local blacksmith Thomas Jackson rented the building from the Greg family, converting it into to a public house. The inn got its name from the imagery in the Greg family crest. Now a public house for over 200 years, The Sword Inn Hand has been the mainstay of the local community for generations, and remains the choice for many local residents, whilst attracting visitors from further afield.
